Au Naturel

I decided that I was sick of getting Diego dressed in adorable outfits only to have him smear all sorts of food all over himself.  So why bother dressing him at all, especially since it's summer?

I'm not sure why I thought a bib was unnecessary. A bib would have at least slowed the river of apricots.

Body shots anyone?

"Don't stop the apricots, Mama. I have a pudgy fist and I'm not afraid to sock you one."

"I warned you!"

Apricots

Unfortunately, Diego was more interested in my bathing suit than the apricots. But he did enjoy them.
(He also had fun swimming.)

I promise, he really did enjoy the apricots.

See?

"Spoon, come to Diego!"

Look at all those blurry limbs.

He sucked the apricots off his fingers later, so it wasn't just the spoon.

I think.

Diego's rating: 3.5 out of 4 stars.

"Here, Mama, let me help you with the webcam."

More peaches

Just to reiterate how successful the peaches were:

And this is also what happened with just about every spoonful:

Peaches

"This had better be pears."

"Whoa, 'not pears' can taste good?!"

"Here, Mama, let me help you get those peaches off your hands."

 "Need. More. Peaches."

"My rating: 3 thumbs up, with a little help from Mama."

 "I'm in heaven."

In sum, my baby loves peaches.

I'm sorry, Diego

I'm sorry that I ever gave you something other than pears.

Also, this is the cleanest after-solids bib we've had so far:

Diego was not about the waste a drop of his precious, precious pears. Almost all of what's on the bib is due to my clumsiness.

Tomorrow's plan is for peaches (or, as Diego may think of it, "not pears"). I feel so guilty.

Avocado Rehash

Ways I've prepared avocado for Diego:

1) Plain:

Not exactly a ringing endorsement.

2) Mixed with pears:

Surprisingly, pears did not improve the situation too much.

3) Mixed with oatmeal:

It turns out Avocado + Oatmeal = Pear. Diego slurped this up so fast and kept demanding more. Considering his rating for oatmeal versus pear, I'm pretty shocked that oatmeal was the difference maker.

"No more pictures, Mama."

Avocado

"This is not pear."

"Are the pears over here?"

"Maybe they're over here."

"Mama, where are the pears?!"

"This is kinda slimy."

"If I hold my nose, maybe..."

"Or maybe if I don't look at it..."

"At least it comes on a spoon."

Diego's rating for avocado: 2 out of 4 stars.  No thumbs.

"Ok, maybe I can give it a thumb. Maybe."

"SPOOOOOOON."

Diego would like to set the record straight

I'm not sure what that was about, but he tends to "talk" like that after each meal with solids.  This time it was after pears - that's what's smeared across his bib, throughout his hair, and stuck behind my ears.

Pears

"Oh, pears, how do I describe thee?"

"So sweet!"

 "So creamy!"

"Simply put, you are delectable."

"Everyone should have pears."

"What do you mean not everyone gets pears? Oh, the humanity!"

"At least I still get pears."

Diego's rating for pears: 2 thumbs up!
